Chapter Two

The next morning I got up at five o'clock. If I was going to get Snowflake ready in time for the next show I have to get up early every morning and train. I walked down the steps and headed toward the barn.
"Come on Snowflake, time to train." I said to her softly
I walked into the tack room and grabbed a halter and lunge line for her. I walk back to her stall,  put the halter and lunge line on her and lead her to the arena.
"Corto!" I commanded
She stared at me as if I was crazy.
"Snow! Corto!"
No matter how hard I asked her, she would not do what I commanded.
"Corto Snowf! Corto!" I said angrily
"Amy! Give Snow a break. She looks tired."
I rolled my eyes and let Snow have a break.
"What happened to being ready for the next show? Hmmm? Mom?" I said under my breath. I lead Snowflake to her stall, fed and watered her and brushed her down.
"You're a good girl Snow, you just need A LOT of work."
I closed the stall door and walked over to Ebony's stall.
"Hey boy! I miss you!" I told him softly
He nickered softly as if to say "I miss you too."
"Yeah, that's my boy."
I patted his neck and gave him a carrot.
"Do you want to go outside boy?"
He neighed and stomped his hoof as if to say "I'd thought you'd never ask!" I walk out of his stall and go to the tack room to grab the halter engraved "Ebony Night" and his lead line. I walk out of the tack room and back over to Ebony's stall and put the halter and lead line on him.
"Come on boy, let's go out to the pasture."
I lead him out of his stall and go to the pasture.
"There you go boy. I'll be back in an hour to get you."
I close the pasture gate and head to the house.
'Amy? Is that you?" mom asked as I walked in the door
"Yeah mom it is. I am just getting some food before I let Ebony in for the night."
"You let Ebony out?"
"Yeah why?" I asked
"The vet said he needs to stay in his stall." mom said angrily
"Well he looked like he needed some fresh air."
"Fine, I'll let this one go. Next time ask the vet before letting him out."
"Yes mother." I said annoyed
I finish up eating and head out to the pasture to get Ebony.
"Ebony! Time to come in for the night!" I called, there was no response. No whinny, no nothing.
"Ebony!" I called again. Still no reply. I run inside the house to get mom.
"Mom! Ebony isn't coming when I call him! I'm scared!" I said with a shakiness in my voice.
"Okay, okay calm down. We'll find him. Don't worry."
"I'll call the police and let them know that Ebony is missing." I said to her
"Good idea. I'll go check the other pastures."
While mom went to check the pastures, I called the police.
"911 what is the emergency?" they said as they answered the line
"Yes, hello my name is Amy Nixon and my horse Ebony Night is the five time award winning Paso Fino and he is missing."
"Well, Amy we will do all we can to find your horse."
"Thank you." I said
"No problem Amy. Have a good night."
"You too. Good night."
After I had gotten off the phone with the police my mom came in the house.
"Any luck mom?" I asked
"No, not yet. How did the call with the police go?"
"It went okay. They said they would do all they could to find him."
"That's great sweetheart! I'll call Uncle Nate and see if he will help us as well."
"Okay, good night mom. I love you."
"Love you too sweetheart."
